Recapping CostQuest’s LinkedIn Live Event: Expanding FCC Fabric Use Rights

CostQuest’s LinkedIn Live event went live on Monday, November 21st.

During the live event, CostQuest discussed the recent expansion of FCC Broadband Serviceable Location Fabric data usage rights to designated government entities to use the data for public broadband mapping. CostQuest also talked about the expansion of FCC Fabric data usage rights to other designated entities to use the data for the Broadband Data Collection process.

• Explain the evolution of FCC Fabric use rights, from initial contract award to now
• Why entities need a license agreement to access the FCC Fabric data

Below is a short breakdown of the critical information from the event:

The main point of the event was to explain the current and new use rights of the FCC Fabric data. Here are the use cases of the data by entity type.

➡️ For ISPs:
• ISPs can use the data to support their BDC filings
• Must sign an End User Licensing Agreement 
• Can only use to support BDC (no commercial use)

➡️ For Government Entities:
• Government Entities can use the data to support BDC/Challenges
• Must sign an End User Licensing Agreement 
USE EXPANSION
• Designated entities can now use for State Broadband Mapping
• Must be a designated entity (by the FCC)

➡️ For Others:
USE EXPANSION
• Available to interested parties
• Request through FCC
• Use restricted to BDC purposes/Challenge processes
• NO commercial use
