About the New National Broadband Map

By: Hailey Farrow, Marketing Manager on behalf of CostQuest Associates.

Broadband World News interviewed CostQuest’s CEO, James Stegeman, at the Fiber Connect 2022 event to discuss CostQuest’s work to quantify the Digital Divide in the United States. With some insight from Jim on why he is confident the new federal National Broadband Map will be more precise than the previous data, the FCC was using.

CostQuest has counted that between 23 to 25 million homes, and businesses, are unserved or underserved with broadband Internet. This count of in-demand locations is more than the most recent FCC estimate released in 2020, which states that 14.5 million locations lack broadband access.
