Wichita Property Tax Conference 2023 – Wichita, KS

Representatives from CostQuest will be attending the 2023 Wichita Property Tax Conference in Wichita, KS, July 23rd-27th. This annual conference is hosted on the campus of Wichita State University and provides valuation and assessment topics for complex industries, including utility, energy, communication, pipeline, rail, airline, logistics, and manufacturing. Conference attendees are people involved in property tax matters and are from organizations including Government, consultants, attorneys, software, accounting, and educators.

Jim Stegeman, CostQuest’s CEO, and President, will be teaching a class on the “Principle Valuation of Utility Type Properties for Ad Valorem Taxation”.
Jim’s session will cover the:
  • Three cost approach methods – Historical Cost, Reproduction Cost New, and Replacement Cost New
  • Depreciation concepts
  • Review of implementing the cost approach process.
The session hinges on the principle of substitution that: “A prudent buyer will not pay more for a property than the cost of acquiring a substitute property of equivalent utility.”

The CostQuest team will be at the event to network with event attendees, answer any questions people might have about our data products and consulting services, and share tips related to valuations and appraisals for telecommunication and utility networks.
