Alabama officials selected CostQuest for a $1.7 million, two year contract to develop current service maps, identify un-served areas and to work with state and local authorities to encourage
adoption of broadband services and develop plans for the deployment of broadband though out the state. The program, called “ConnectingALABAMA”, is a unique approach that calls on both local
leaders as well as national experts to help Alabama's citizens chart their own broadband future.
“We are delighted to take a lead role in this effort by the state of Alabama to bring the benefits of broadband connectivity to all corners of the state,” said CostQuest president Jim Stegeman.
“Studies have shown that Broadband connectivity is driver of economic development, personal opportunity and the quality of life for citizens everywhere.”
Alabama Governor Bob Riley started the Alabama Broadband Initiative to make sure small towns and rural communities don’t get left behind noting that eliminating un-served areas in the state
will provide greater opportunities and benefits to all citizens of Alabama.
CostQuest has also managed the Wyoming Broadband initiative and a nation-wide mobile broadband mapping and assessment program. These projects, coupled with the ConnectingALABAMA
initiative, show that CostQuest is a proven leader in broadband assessment across the U.S.
